Compared to the color of the ice plan to the newly planted. If you take a ride up to Bodega Bay and walk the beach look up at the cliffs, there you will see many of the native plants growing between the ice plant. You have been hood winked and it is our loss of the beauty along our coast.I am a painter who has painted here for the last 20 years and it breaks my heart to see what has been done.Look up at your lighthouse from the beach.where there were once cascading color down over the sand dunes there is nothing but dead looking weeds.the ice plant gave us color, you took it away, shame on you.Barry Marshallnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24019952.post-85973959223234248082014-10-05T16:17:24.030-07:002014-10-05T16:17:24.030-07:00Hello,

The boom in municipal desalination and reuse which quadrupled the size of that market over the past decade has mostly played itself out. In the aftermath of the failed regional water project, it seems only prudent to take conflict of interest issues seriously. Does relying on exceptions to the rule really meet the spirit of the law as well as the letter of the law?
It seems the government officials involved here are more prone to get another legal opinion than to step back and determine what is in the interest of realizing a water solution to the overpumping of the Carmel River. Earlier lawsuit by the cities fighting the cease and desist order did not accomplish a solution to the water problem, but those involved keep repeating the same unproductive mistakes. When consultants and attorneys are the sole beneficiaries, as Weekly assistant editior Kera Abraham concluded, the ratepayers suffer the consequences of more delay and no progress.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24019952.post-33123854771687588922012-10-24T07:36:56.237-07:002012-10-24T07:36:56.237-07:00Tucked into the argument for Measure D is the clai...Tucked into the argument for Measure D is the claim that the city is well managed. Oh really? Since when? If the city was well managed, then since 2003 the city would have used general fund revenues and reserve funds to pay off the CalPERS side fund debt by now. If the city was well managed more recently, then the mayor and city council would have called for a RFP process for the management of Sunset Center. They did not. If the city was well managed, then the city would budget annually for the maintenance, upkeep and management of all of the city's cultural assets, not just the Sunset Center. If the City was well managed, then the mayor and city council would have initiated an RFP process for a resident curatorship for Flanders Mansion. They have not. If the City was well managed, the mayor and city council would have had a public hearing on the renovation phasing plans of Forest Theater by Bill Camille by now. They have not. The hiring of a new city administrator does not automatically make the city well managed, especially with this mayor and vice mayor dictating the management of the city.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24019952.post-4857594804381193922012-10-24T07:32:28.125-07:002012-10-24T07:32:28.125-07:00During the MPRWA Board’s selection of legal counse...During the MPRWA Board’s selection of legal counsel discussion after Mayor/Director Burnett made a motion to select Carmel city attorney Don Freeman for legal counsel, MPRWA Director Potter expressed concern that Mr. Freeman serves at the pleasure of too many of the local jurisdictions and there would be a concern with an element of influence which should be subject to consideration of the board. He stated if the issue of conflict came up it would be unreasonable to have to continuously retain outside counsel in times of conflict. Mr. Freeman responded that he would be required to bring a letter to each of the jurisdictions for which he participates to deal with any conflicts of interest. Mr. Freeman noted if there was a conflict, he would suggest that MPRWA retain separate legal counsel. In the aftermath of the Steve Collins conflict of interest problems leading to Cal-Am’s abandonment of the Regional Water Project, it is shocking that no discussion ensued after Director Potter’s comment which raises questions and doubts about the competency of the MPRWA Board.Conflict of Interest?noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24019952.post-87270432025398526632012-10-10T11:38:29.568-07:002012-10-10T11:38:29.568-07:00So, the Mayors' Water Authority wants Cal-Am a...So, the Mayors' Water Authority wants Cal-Am and the public to believe the Water Authority is a credible and capable public partner for Cal-Am to oversee aspects of Cal-Am's Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project. Well, part of being credible and capable is being expeditious in making decisions given the December 31, 2016 cease and desist order deadline. Yet, the Water Authority needs at least 3 closed sessions to decide on a executive director after announcing two final candidates for the position on September 27.

The Water Authority's decision-making process with respect to the selection of an executive director does not give the public much confidence in its ability to act as an expeditious, credible public partner to Cal-Am moving forward.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24019952.post-88035099633799323342012-09-25T10:14:43.190-07:002012-09-25T10:14:43.190-07:00Mayor Jason Burnett has shown he is adept at polit...Mayor Jason Burnett has shown he is adept at political gamesmanship, but the jury is still out on political leadership.
