Pothole Town: The Condition of Our Streets

(Location: Torres St. between 8th Av. & Mt. View Av.)

In a Sunday, April 2, 2006 Letter to the Editor, a Carmelite wrote about his "pet peeve --- the continued neglect of the village's streets. They have grown steadily worse over the years under the present administration's fiscal cutback policies."

For a village of:

1 square mile
4,000 permanent residents
$11.2 million annual budget
$7-8 million reserves

the degraded condition of our streets is SHAMEFUL! Posted by Picasa

We are Carmel residents of many years. We are witness to the steady deterioration of our village. It is an appalling sight for all to see.

One example: Closing the Scout House. Reason: No money to bring it up to standard use. An $11,200,000/year budget for a square mile and no availability of Scout House.

Glad that we can can comment through the web. Hope many Carmel residents see this Blog. Thank you. Thank you.

City budget hearings are already scheduled. April 25th at 4:30 - May 23rd at 4:30 - June 13th at 4:30 - all Tuesdays. The schedule has only been noticed internally and has not been announced or posted to inform the general public. Another example of less transparency.
