ABSTRACT: In an e-mail communication to Carrie Theis, City Council Member, dated December 15, 2018, attorney Neil L. Shapiro, LAW OFFICES OF NEIL L. SHAPIRO, stated, in part, “Since before the November election and continuing to the present time, you have told people that the only reason that Royal Calkins prevailed in his Public Records Act action against the City is that I am a close friend of the Hon. Robert A. O'Farrell. That statement is both false and defamatory. The purpose of this letter is to suggest that you cease making it or any other that is based on falsehoods and that impugns the character and reputation of its subjects.” 

“I hope that you understand that your statement was and is legally actionable. If you do the proper thing and cease repeating the statement, the issue will end here. If you do not, I will take formal steps to stop you from damaging the reputations of decent people, and to provide redress to those harmed by your unfortunate and careless action.”
