Every time the HRB meets and removes a residence from the Historic Inventory is a further indictment of the city council and their absolute incompetance. In such a hurry to claim political victory for a certified LCP, they obviously didn't claim equal responsibility for a thorough review prior to submission to the coastal commission. One even wonders whether any of the council members bothered to read the document.

They fuss and expend too much public time over one mills act contract, even using decreased revenue as a means of denial. If they didn't know enough to have a reasonable and accurate inventory, then how is it possible for any of them, including our less than stellar city manager, to know the intricacies of the mills act?

It will be interesting to see if there are other appeals after the 200 are notified of their historic status recorded on their respective deeds.

Incompetent people do not become competent people overnight. It will soon be time to clean house in 2008 if Carmelites are serious about government and our town.
