What is wrong with this picture? A Forest & Beach Commission charged with protecting our parks votes to allow for the sale of parkland. A Planning Commission charged with following good planning policy votes to allow for the sale of an in holding in Mission Trails Park. The council doesn’t bother to have a comprehensive discussion on the sale before voting for those of us new to the area and issue. I sense the Commissions have been politically compromised to support the mayor’s agenda at the cost of turning their backs on their Commission duties and responsibilities.
Perhaps if the Paid for by the Committee for Aye on Measure I had an educational background in the sciences they would not be so prone to form a conclusion and then select only those items which support their conclusion. But there is more going on with this ad than that, there are downright lies here. The city has not been studying uses for Flanders for 35 years. Estimated costs for rehabilitation more recent than 2005 show much less than $2 million. 138 acres of open space are not completely accessible to the public. Not all of the past six councils have taken action toward the sale of Flanders-there was no action during the litigation period post 2005 until the city was ordered to rescind all resolutions, etc., having to do with the vote to sell Flanders in 2005. Veracity has more been sue mcCloud's character defining traits so it is not surprising her Carmel area friend and sister would associate their names with this ad. I am sure they will be more prevarications to come over the next weeks.
The partial list of supporters appear to be the same core supporters of Sue McCloud during past campaign elections. Do these people not learn or really care about Carmel? After all these years of mismanagement and botched agendas, it is disturbing to see these people still support Sue McCloud and her agenda. What could they possibly be getting out of it?
