A landslide election for Jason Burnett! Times, they are a-changing.
I hope Sue McCloud is getting the message.
Adam Moniz gave Sue a run for her money. That is the closest any candidate has come to unseating her.
He almost pulled it off.
Now that Jason Burnett has won a seat on the council, I would like to see him fulfill the expectations his supporters have of him. He can start with publicly calling out the mayor when she is less than honest and open with us. He can then see to some real progress on implementing a permanent fire department solution. And he can demand an independent investigation into all the charges of Jane Miller and Stephanie Pearce about City Administrator Rich Guillen and the mayor and the conduct of the city council and fully brief the public every step of the way taking into consideration privacy concerns, but erring on the side of public disclosure. He has to know now that he is part of this council, he is just as responsible as the other members. He could do a lot to restore the reputation of the city and council by challenging the status quo at city hall.
Bye, Bye Gerard. He can take himself and his laptop and be gone. He has been one, if not the most, divisive council members ever. He has been the main cheerleader for Sue McCloud and he has used his position to publicly attack people and public speakers critical of the mayor and council. Thank goodness voters voted him out of office. I bet the atmosphere at council meetings will change immediately for the better.
I regret that Adam will not be able to send that letter of apology to John Hanson and his family. I also regret the fact not enough voters rewarded Adam for campaigning on all the things which needed to be addresssed and said. For this, he was called clueless and not in Sue McCloud's league by the media. Hey, it is Sue McCloud who is not in Adam's league. Adam deserved to win and be Carmel's next mayor, not Sue McCloud, and that is a sad commentary on a majority of Carmel voters.
