Forest Theatre Update by City Administrator Jason Stilwell: 'Preliminary Cost Estimate of Two to Four Million Dollars’ for ‘Necessary Repairs and Alterations’ to Reopen Forest Theatre

ABSTRACT:  After the Forest Theater Workshop on May 5, 2014 and at the City Council Meeting on June 3, 2014, Announcements from City Administrator, City Administrator Jason Stilwell stated that the City had hired an architect to prepare a “draft punch list” for deficiencies that need to be remedied prior to the reopening of the Forest Theater, the building official reviewed the list and considers the list “comprehensive” and the “preliminary cost estimate of two to four million dollars” for the “necessary repairs and alterations” to reopen the Forest Theatre. After construction plans defined, permitting and bid process, construction now proposed for 2016-2017, moved up one year. Mayor Jason Burnett stated that there will be an opportunity to talk about the Forest Theater at the upcoming budget meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
