Adam’s Weekly Editorial (Part 9 of a 10 Piece Editorial Series)
THE BUSINESS DISTRICT: Adam believes we should be helping our business community now, as opposed to spending even more City money on expensive outside consultants to provide an ivory tower analysis of reality. We must spend wisely and we must stretch every single dollar.

Adam has proposed a special initiative to identify and create superior incentives to encourage the occupancy of currently vacant storefronts. And as Mayor, he will prioritize improved relations between the City and the business district. Our City should not be competing with the Chamber of Commerce, we should be partnering in a meaningful and mutually beneficial way.

Lastly, a very special Happy Birthday to our beloved Doris Day!

Adam’s Weekly Editorial (Part 8 of a 10 Piece Editorial Series)
THE TALENT IN OUR VILLAGE: Let’s shift away from our City’s expensive current approach of hiring high-priced outside consultants and instead draw more on our collective skills and experiences. We should better utilize the talents of our village residents.

Adam believes we need to provide residents with greater opportunity to participate in Carmel’s government, as that will strengthen our community and lead to a better future (it’s one of the main reasons Adam previously applied to serve on the Forest & Beach Commission).

Adam’s Weekly Editorial (Part 6 of a 10 Piece Editorial Series)
THE SCOUT HOUSE: Let’s put the Scout House back in service as an affordable community gathering place. As Mayor, Adam will start the process by supporting efforts to make the Scout House handicap accessible and moving forward on necessary repairs. Adam believes that re-opening the Scout House is a step in the right direction towards revitalizing our sense of community.

Adam’s Weekly Editorial (Part 5 of a 10 Piece Editorial Series)
ACCESS TO INFORMATION: On February 3, 2010, the Honorable Larry E. Hayes, Judge of the Superior Court, ruled against our City on an aspect of the Jane Miller litigation. In his order, Judge Hayes publicly revealed that there have been 4 other City employees who, in Judge Hayes’ words, made “claims similar to Ms. Miller” against City Hall over a recent 5 year period.

What are these 4 other “similar” claims that were made against City Hall? Did City Hall quietly settle these 4 other “similar” claims behind closed doors? Were they settled by City Hall to prevent the public release of information about them? Exactly how much money did City Hall settle these “claims similar to Ms. Miller” for? If any of these claims were frivolous, then why exactly did City Hall pay money to settle them?

Adam’s Weekly Editorial (Part 4 of a 10 Piece Editorial Series)
DOGS: Our village has a rich history of embracing our canine friends and visitors flock from far and wide with their pets in tow. As Mayor, Adam is committed to ensuring Carmel remains dog heaven on earth. His dog, Maddy, simply would not have it any other way (and neither would he).

Adam’s Weekly Editorial (Part 3 of a 10 Piece Editorial Series)
PROTECTING OUR CITY: We must protect our city from the continuation of costly lawsuits and expensive settlements. As Mayor, Adam will restore transparency, openness, and accessibility. We can’t afford to make any more mistakes.

Adam’s Weekly Editorial (Part 2 of a 10 Piece Editorial Series)
WORLD WAR I MEMORIAL: Carmel-by-the-Sea’s World War I Memorial has not seen any major work since late 1977 (a car lost its brakes coming down Ocean Avenue and plowed into it on August 6, 1977). As Mayor, Adam will join veterans in leading fundraising efforts for private financial backing to give our war memorial the restoration it desperately needs.

MEETINGS: If you are familiar with City Hall, then you know how difficult it is to be heard. This will stop with a change in meeting procedures. Adam will also hold a minimum of two town hall meetings per year that will be open to all village residents.

I am with Adam. We desperately need to replace the current mayor, head of the team which just accepts the mayor's agendas with no questions or concerns. No more mindless team members voting all alike on the mayor's personal issues. Now is the time for real change we can believe in. Vote for Adam & Jason.

Amen to that. You nailed it with the "mindless" team. Don't forget the muzzles. They can't think for themselves and they can't speak for themselves. Not one council person with any courage to challenge the Mayor's agenda or to ask any hard questions about any subject.

Paula Hazdovac is one of the worst. She only comes alive on the council when it is election time. Otherwise she sits there like lichen on the log. The only reason she stays on the council is to get her health insurance coverage. She never gives any explanation for why she is voting one way or another. No reason to tell the public what she is thinking. But now, she will sit there and smile and be oh so nice 'cause it's election time. How in the world has she managed to be the top vote-getter in past elections? She is now married to a man who lives in Pebble Beach. Do you really think she is still going to live in Carmel or just be a property owner here?

I've had enough of "the team." It's time for a change.

It is certainly true that the mayor and the two incumbent council members up for reelection have been more interested in being big fish in a little pond than in doing their job of caring for Carmel. This is particularly true of McCloud. The only way Carmel will ever stop sliding further and further into a hole is for McCloud to be replaced. Almost anyone would do a better job. Unfortunately, even after she is no longer mayor it will take years to mitigate the damage she and the other two have done. The longer they remain in office the harder it will be to repair their mistreatment of Carmel

Rumor has it that if Adam Moniz is elected mayor, Rich Guillen is going to turn in his resignation letter on day one. That alone would be enough reason to vote for Adam.

In Carmel, for too long, we have been assaulted by the arrogant, bad behavior of Tweedle dee (Paula) and Tweedle dumb (Gerard) and Tweedle dum (Rich) and Tweedle dumber (Sue). Rich and Sue sink or swim together to the very end because they need each other to cover for each other. Sue could not be mayor without Rich as her front man and a new mayor would not put up with the incompetence and bad behavior of Rich. Maybe with this election the end is near for the old guard and we can look to the future with new and fresher faces with new and better ideas for Carmel.

I agree with Anonymous - another reason to vote for Adam for mayor is to get rid of Rich. He should have been put on administrative leave a long time ago or resigned, but anytime we can see the back of him for good I am in favor of.
