MONTEREY PENINSULA WATER SUPPLY PROJECT: Test Well Project Monitoring Well Data

ABSTRACT: On the MONTEREY PENINSULA WATER SUPPLY PROJECT websiteCalifornia American Water Company has posted Project Updates, prepared by GEOSCIENCE Support Services, Inc., including Test Well Project Monitoring Well Datathree series of operating data, namely Groundwater Monitoring Report No. 1, Period 19Feb15    13Mar 15 (March 16, 2015) (604 pages), Groundwater Monitoring Report No. 2, Period 13Mar15    20Mar 15 (March 23, 2015) (557 pages) and Groundwater Monitoring Report No. 3 Period 20Mar15    27Mar15 (March 30, 2015) (996 pages).  Importantly, the Purpose and Scope section states, in part, as follows:
“Coastal Development Permit #A-3-MRA-14-0050 dated 8-Dec-14 granted California American Water Company (Cal-Am) permission for development consisting of: Construction, operation and decommissioning of a test slant well at the CEMEX sand mining facility in the City of Marina and beneath Monterey Bay in the County of Monterey. Special condition 11 “Protection of Nearby Wells”, of that permit requires groundwater monitoring of a minimum of four wells on the CEMEX site within 2,000 ft of the test well and one or more offsite wells to record water and salinity levels (see Appendix A).”
Groundwater Monitoring Report No. 1 represents the first report of the required monitoring and summarizes monitoring performed for the period 19-Feb-15 through 13-Mar-15. Groundwater Monitoring Report No. 2, represents the second report for the period 13‐Mar‐15 ‐ 20‐Mar‐ 15. And Groundwater Monitoring Report No. 3 represents the third report for the period 20-Mar-15 through 27-Mar-15.
And, the Format of report states, in part, “All subsequent monitoring reports to be submitted on a weekly basis will be in the same general format of this report. As more wells are added to the monitoring well network their data will be added to each report. In accordance, any new wells or changes in monitoring well data will be continuously updated or corrected as needed and reported on a weekly basis.”
