Judge Jim Troupis
Wisconsin's Unethical Prosecution
The State of Wisconsin has seen multiple instances of Lawfare.
In Wisconsin, Judge Jim Troupis represented Donald Trump following the 2020 election, supporting an alternate slate of Electoral College voters while waiting for the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on his petition challenging hundreds of thousands of Wisconsin votes. Votes allegedly cast contrary to Wisconsin law after three of the Wisconsin Supreme Court Justices sided with Troupis’ legal arguments.
Since 2021, Judge Troupis has been subjected to multiple bar complaints, a civil lawsuit and in 2024 a criminal complaint brought by the Democrat Attorney General Josh Kaul, former partner at the law firm Perkins Coie, that is now subject to a limiting Executive Order. In fact, after the November election Attorney General Josh Kaul added ten new criminal charges to effectively threaten Judge Troupis with a life sentence.
The former Perkins Coie partner, Josh Kaul, is the same Wisconsin Attorney General who in 2022 authorized a memorandum to the Wisconsin Election Commission opining that nothing Judge Troupis did in his representation of President Trump violated any Wisconsin or Federal law. Why the reversal?
There is no more perfect illustration of political Lawfare than a Democrat Attorney General bringing felony charges months before the next election, taking one of the best election lawyers in the state off the field with the goal to bankrupt and incarcerate him.
