Sierra Madre’s award-winning Rose Parade entry "SueƱos de California" (“Dreams of California") showing monarch butterflies over Mission San Carlos Borromeo broke down in Old Town Pasadena on Orange Grove Boulevard, south of Colorado Boulevard. The break down halted the parade for about ten minutes. The float was then towed by an Automobile Club of Southern California tow truck along the five-mile parade route. The analogy to broken down Carmel city government was too good to pass up.
