Rejoicing aside, it will be fun to watch and see if Mayor Burnett and the new-old council live up to their campaign rhetoric of preserving Carmel's village character and charm (paid parking kiosks?), preserving and enhancing parks (sell Flanders Mansion in Mission Trail Nature Preserve?), city department resources (Planning & Building Director?), shared services (police department?), supporting businesses (higher sales tax and hotel tax rates?), etc. Game on, let the fun begin.
One of incumbent Ken Talmage's Challenges We Will Address is add new water sources for the Peninsula to be operational by 2017. It will be interesting to see if voters hold the winning candidates to actual performance measurements. Process is important, but not more important than results. Ken Talmage needs to show voters his private sector experience can work to the benefit of a water solution, something he has not done in his many previous years on the council.
