So, the Mayors' Water Authority wants Cal-Am and the public to believe the Water Authority is a credible and capable public partner for Cal-Am to oversee aspects of Cal-Am's Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project. Well, part of being credible and capable is being expeditious in making decisions given the December 31, 2016 cease and desist order deadline. Yet, the Water Authority needs at least 3 closed sessions to decide on a executive director after announcing two final candidates for the position on September 27.
The Water Authority's decision-making process with respect to the selection of an executive director does not give the public much confidence in its ability to act as an expeditious, credible public partner to Cal-Am moving forward.
