It seems to be that we have alarm bells going off all around us. The oddity is that so few people seem to hear them.

I think Bagehot was right: free discussion is an integral ingredient, a veritable pillar of liberty. But that freedom is under serious threat today by religious fanatics, overweening government bureaucrats, and a complacent populace. David Hume once observed: “It is seldom that liberty of any kind is lost all at once.” It seems to be that we have alarm bells going off all around us. The oddity is that so few people seem to hear them. No wonder secession is once again in the air.

But Rhodes, curiously, has not been charged although he is Person One in the indictments. (Darren Beattie at Revolver News has a few investigative reports on Rhodes and the Oath Keepers case.) Even more curious is how the FBI quickly identified Caldwell, accessed his social media posts and other contacts, sought a warrant, and arrested him less than two weeks after the protest when he never even entered the building and committed no serious crime.
Times Reveals FBI Role in January 6

The emergence of numerous FBI informants or undercover agents won’t complicate the “picture” of the Proud Boys participation in January 6. It will, however, complicate the groupthink shared by the media, Democrats, and NeverTrump Republicans that the FBI played no role in organizing or perpetrating the “attack” on the Capitol, suspicions raised by myself and the late Angelo Codevilla here at American Greatness, and Darren Beattie at Revolver News months ago.
