This too slow, dragged out process without a clear and convincing resolution in site has convinced me reluctantly to think Carmel needs to follow the city of Vernon's lead and start a drive for deincorporation. Carmel, like Vernon, has a ethics and open government scandal over many years and also like Vernon, the district attorney's office has known about these problems from numerous compliants and chose not to even start an investigation into the charges and allegations and factual record. Carmelites like to think of their city as special, but we have a reputation now for being special in a very negative way. I also think the sheriff's department can be a better job and remove the too close relationship our present police department has to the mayor. So let's do something radical and start the process of ending this too long and sad spectacle of city government.
